Resumo: Digital culture is a consolidated cultural field in post-modernity. Despite the lack of materialization of this culture, the significant impact on the spheres of life in society is felt, as new forms of communication, interaction and symbols are developed between individuals who share, in this online space, a sense of deterritorialization. These specificities arising from the social development of the Internet and its uses brought several cultural characteristics based on the online reality. Memes, replicators of culture and information and the basic unit of culture, copied, disseminated and transmitted are performances of Internet culture. They can be defined in images, gifs or videos, without a strong presence of the author; being created, recreated and spread across all Internet platforms, developing an inclusive process of cultural experience. Having said that, the greater relevance of thematic analysis resides in the inherent complexity of the appropriations of meaning of a meme idea, which characterizes a significant part of digital culture. Launching a sociological look articulated with studies already carried out on the subject can draw different perspectives about this cultural practice, so present in today's communicative functioning. In this article we will discuss memes as a cultural practice within digital culture.
