Cloud services from a business use perspective

The concept of Cloud Computing has been discussed largely by cost reduction. There are several Cloud providers in the market with diversified models of services accessed over the internet. The purpose of this paper is to present the state of the art with regard to this issue and frame a study conducted in a medium-sized organization. Two perspectives were addressed in this study: use of electronic mail management services in the provider's infrastructure (Public Cloud), and desktop virtualization desktop in internal datacenter (Private Cloud). It was concluded that vendors are making the business models according to their specialty, resulting in a very heterogeneous market and a difficult benchmarking analysis of the services offered, pointing to the need for prototyping tested in the field to assess the feasibility of the solutions.
