Resumo: The filmic languages that dominate most of today mediated content – consumed, produced and distributed in the digital circuits of technologically developed societies – represent a large (if not the largest) slice in the everyday of people in terms of time retention. Especially for the younger ones, and more permeable to the powerful effects of moving images, cinema became a means of escapism and catharsis, decisive for their cultural structure. However, the Education through and with Cinema has not been a priority area in the Portuguese national curriculum, not having the same weight as other artistic expressions such as Musical, Physical-Motor and even the Dramatic ones. It is with the structuring and dissemination of the National Cinema Plan that this reality begins to change, with this protocol, in 2021, promoted in a dispatch within a decade by the government. In order to evaluate the impact of moving images on the habits and practices of children and adolescents, a school-session called METACINEMA was designed which took its pilot in six cities, reaching more than 1000 students and teachers. It was possible to verify, among other fragilities, that students often watch content rated higher than their age without parental control or monitoring, which often results in ambiguities, distortions and fears, shared during this activity. As a complement, a review of the newsletters of the National Cinema Plan was undertaken, with the purpose of identifying initiatives that report pedagogical work of deconstruction and reframing in this field.
