Resumo: The aim of the present study is to explore data gathered by a driver monitoring system which emits alerts when detect drowsiness and distraction. The journey is characterized based on its duration, number and duration of breaks using the date and hour recorded by the system. The alerts are aggregated by sub-journey (the accumulate of the sub-journeys is a journey), which corresponds to an observation with a specific number of alerts. The data comprehends 70 drivers from six distinct companies. Generalized linear models with negative binomial distribution were applied and elasticities estimated considering two distinct models depending on the type pf alert - drowsiness and distraction. Based on these models, the effects of the journey on this type of driver behaviour were obtained. Overall, the study clearly shows the potential of this type of data to analyse de behaviour of professional drivers.
