The subject of this dissertation is an intervention in a pre-existing building, aiming to study, as well, the Industrial Architecture. The structure and narrative of this work is meant to be clear, organized and representative of the process and conception of the project. Reaching from the general to the particular, in order to develop this intention and consolidate knowledge, the structure of the work has approached an historical context that culminates coherently in a practical exercise and intervention project. The primary goal of this essay is this practical exercise that addresses the building of the ancient cannery A Boa Nova, currently in ruins, located at the southern area of Matosinhos, and its transformation and recreation into a cluster and communitary business center, with a green exterior area and relations between all its parts. The preliminary program interpretes the needs of the population and the territory, attending the community needs and taking care of the preservation and appreciation of the patrimony, responding throughout an idea that is a timely, feasible, necessary project that becomes an asset to the territory.
