The use of notes on open videos as a tool to analyse the conceptions of pedagogy students on an environmental problem

Video as a multimedia resource is well recognized in the world of education and can be very useful for working socio-scientific issues in the classroom. New technological developments have allowed the use of annotations in the video to create a virtual discussion. This work will use the Open Video Annotation tool (https://gteavirtual.org/ova, OVA) to work a social-scientific problem as illegal mining in Venezuela. The student’s opinions of a pedagogy group at University of Malaga (Spain) are collected of this issue. To do this, they are asked to identify five different tags (beauty, flora, fauna, impact and solution) on video and give their opinion in the body of the annotation. It concludes that the perception of students on the potential environmental impact of illegal mining can occur at three different times in the video that are clearly differentiated in the video and displayed on the results of work. In addition, it is discussed the possible use of annotations to work not only socioscientific aspects but also another education contents by the use of video annotations.
