Resumo: This master thesis aims to study the legal regime for Civil Mentoring, published by Law 103/2009 of 11th September and regulated by Decree-Law 121/2010 of 27th October, presenting their characteristics and where can apply this same legal figure. We are facing a civil guardianship preceding still something unknown by the general population and by some technicians working in the area as well, which means that there is some fear to suggest and / or apply this measure. This legal relationship aimed mainly be an alternative to institutionalization of chil-dren and young people and it is preferably applied to whose adoption proves unfeasible. This work pretending to demystify what is the Civil Mentoring in Portugal.

This work pretending to demystify what is the Civil Mentoring in Portugal.Esta dissertação tem como objetivo estudar o regime jurídico do Apadrinhamento Civil, publicado pela Lei 103/2009, de 11 de setembro e regulamentado pelo Decreto-Lei 121/2010, de 27 de outubro, apresentando as suas características e casos em que se pode aplicar esta mesma figura jurídica. Estamos perante um processo tutelar cível ainda algo desconhecido por parte da população em geral e também por parte de alguns técnicos que trabalham na área, o que leva a que haja algum receio a sugerir e/ou aplicar esta medida. Esta relação jurídica visa sobretudo ser uma alternativa à institucionalização de crianças e jovens, sendo preferencialmente aplicada a crianças e jovens cuja adoção se mos-tre inviável.
