Resumo: This article reacts to the essay “Uma literature anfíbia”, by Silviano Santiago, which tries to reposition issues of literary aesthetics for the political field. Santiago’s ideas update part of the repressed nationalism of Brazilian critics of an exclusivist character, attributing to the displaced colonialist mentality the consumer public’s repudiation of national production. The objective of the text is to provide literary elements and other artistic expressions to prove that the politicized theme is not the central axis of the qualitative analysis of a given work, but the aesthetic strategies used in it.
