Resumo: The 20th of April is the Chinese Language Day. All over the world, due to the dimension of the Chinese diaspora, there are many celebrations of a language with about 1.4 billion native speakers. This paper aims to reflect on aspects related to the Chinese language, namely its importance in the context of a globalised world, as a scenario of exchanges in cultural aspects and in modes of communication. How important is the Chinese language in the globalization process? We will try to answer this question by analysing it in the light of the political sphere, through the concept of “people-to-people-dialogue” and the Belt and Road Initiative.
