CHALLENGES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DISTANCE EDUCATION COURSES: A CASE STUDY IN THE ADMINISTRATION DISTANCE COURSE AT UFSC – BRAZIL

Resumo: This article is intended to analyze which are the main challenges facing the administration of Distance Management Courses at Brazilian public institutions, in the perception of all the actors involved in that system: institution, presence support poles, course coordinator, professor, tutor, student, and technical-administrative support team. The main management challenges were established a priori, based on the regulatory framework (dimensions: institutional organization, society, physical and institutional infra-structure, and legal requirements) and on Penterich (2009). This paper is of a quail-quanti nature, of the exploratory-descriptive type and with outlining developed from documental and bibliographic research and case study, also using systematic review as a bibliographic research method at the exploratory phase, considering the stages foreseen in the Cochrane Manual (planning, execution and presentation/divulgation). The main conclusions emphasize that the four management dimensions and the 11 management challenges have been validated by most actors, who added three additional ones: knowledge management, management for excellence and school dropout management, totalizing 14 distance course management challenges.

Os desafios foram estabelecidos à priori, com base no marco regulatório (dimensões organização institucional, corpo social, infraestrutura física e tecnológica e requisitos legais) e em Penterich (2009). O trabalho é de natureza quali-quanti do tipo exploratório-descritiva, com pesquisa documental, bibliográfica e estudo de caso. Utilizou revisão sistemática na fase exploratória da pesquisa bibliográfica, considerando as etapas do Manual Cochrane (planejamento, execução e apresentação/divulgação).
