Resumo: | As the prevalence of 5G technologies continues to grow, operators and verticals are increasingly eager to leverage their capabilities. To maintain such technologies, operators started adopting Virtualization techniques, moving away from dedicated networking hardware. Virtualization techniques and paradigms, such as NFV, can significantly reduce costs while simultaneously expanding the range of scenarios supported without changing the infrastructure. Conversely, verticals are becoming more intrigued in the performance improvements that 5G technologies provide. With the advancements in this area and the emergence of more complex scenarios, using inter-domain network services has become a viable solution for certain use cases. At the moment, the strategies used for inter-domain mechanisms are limited and restrictive to operators. One of the current solutions for such constraints is the IT Aveiro’s NetOr. This dissertation aims to enhance the inter-domain solution offered by NetOr, in terms of resilience, performance, Peer Discovery, and reliability testing. To this end, three different, but synergistic, mechanisms are presented in this document. The first solution consists of a full-mesh VPNaaS between all domains, whose configuration is done without manual intervention. Additionally, an active monitoring service was integrated into the VPNaaS strategy, assuring and supervising the continuity of services by recurring to Virtual Test Agents. Consequently, a Dynamic Routing mechanism was developed, optimizing the full-mesh’s VPN links monitored by the previous service. Overall, this document presents the defined architecture and implementation of these mechanism as wel as their results and outcomes. |
