Resumo: The museum is one of the most representative structures of contemporary society. The aspirations of the modern city are mirrored throughout the different phases of projecting approaches. Those reflections engage new connections that go beyond simple museum peculiarities; they also engage social and urban changes in the context in which they operate. Those representative and changing characteristics confer to the museum a new appeal to the city management agencies due to his political intrumentalisation potential. The museums can have political, economic and social impact and therefore politicians use often museums as a motto to urban regeneration and as a flagship for development aspiration, generated upon specific contemporary society characteristics. The museum relationship with the urban space is unique. It stands out not only in its size and architecture, but also in their narratives with the environment, creating unique structures that define their own connection to the collective body. The main goal of this paper is to learn more and to understand the complex connections between the museum and its stakeholders, based on a multiple case study approach. There were selected four museums and cities that can showcase the diversity on the approach as well their changing potential. Those examples are all recent projects.
