Resumo: The present work addresses the problem of the suitability of public spaces in the cities for their use by all citizens and, in particular, by those with reduced mobility. In addition to describing the diversity of users of these spaces according to their mobility conditions and the main barriers that commonly in their use, some relatively recent examples of intervention in the public space, chosen among some of the places of great pedestrian circulation in the centers of the cities of Braga and Porto, are discussed and are taken here as case studies, as a research strategy. In these examples, the issues of accessibility for users with reduced mobility are described and analyzed in the light of current legal regulations and based on several walks made in the company of this kind of users.
