Resumo: Since 1985, year of volleyball's creation in United States of America, the modality have been passed through great changes and evolutions, in terms of game, technical and tactical, beside organizational and professional level. The new vision of volleyball's professionalization made institutions of sports management seek excellence in all the professionals involved, regardless of the hierarchical level. Seeking to achieve best results on the court, there are sports managers responsible for multiple tasks and located in different hierarchical lines. In sport management, there are managers in job position, responsible for strategical decision making, at the intermediate level, who connect with the strategic leadership, such as the operational core, and, on the operational basis, provide all administrative support to the coaching staff and athletes. The objectives of this study are to identify the roles of Brazilian women's volleyball supervisor, to characterize and delimit the position and its hierarchical area of action, and, consequently, to identify its importance for the team. For this, the research adopted a qualitative approach, with an exploratory and descriptive objective. Using content analysis applied to interviews with two subjects: the supervisor of Brazilian women's volleyball team, an unstructured interview with a heuristic function; 5 of the 8 supervisors in the best teams placed in the 2017/2018 Women's Super league, with a semi-structured interview, a guide validated by expert opinion and a confirmatory role. For the information collection, an application was use with the recorder function of a smartphone with iOS operating system. The analysis of the interview of the first subject identified as responsibilities of the supervisor the logistical functions, management of sports materials, communication management, people management and financial management. By analyzing the interviews of the second subject, we obtained the confirmation of the functions above and the emergence of a new function, the risk management. The analysis of the interviews also allowed, hierarchically, classifying the supervisor as a sport manager at an operational level, with variations in both the upper level of the pyramid and professionals subordinate to him, even though Brazilian sport does not have a fixed organizational chart model. The investigation concludes that the Brazilian women's volleyball supervisor is an operational manager, who needs to have administrative, financial, personnel and volleyball skills, has to be organized, proactive and available, with logistics, communication, people, financial and risk and equipment's, management responsibilities. It is a quite important position to avoid other professionals to accumulate roles and responsibilities that will directly affect the particular performance of their duties, and consequently the goals and purposes of the team and the organization.
