Abstract: An effective communicational process is influenced by numerous circumstances, where Aphasia constitutes a limitation and, in a way, an obstacle to the effectiveness of the whole treatment. However we consider that every challenge is worth taking, this is a challenge whose reward is priceless. The main objective of this research was to describe the communicational experiences feeling by nurses at neurology III service of the University Hospital of Coimbra (HUC), when confronted with patients suffering from Aphasia. For the pursuit of this goal, we have used the qualitative methodology of phenomenological origin. The half-structured interview was used as approaching method and the interview script and voice-recorder as means to pick information. The interview data were treated with the help of the NUDIST (Non-numerical Unstructured Data Indexing Searching Theorizing) software, from which six major thematic areas stood out: Communicational (Dis)Syntonization, Interaction Strategies, Referred Attitudes, Communicational Feelings, Centring the Communicational Difficulty and Communicational Skills. The findings of this research have revealed to be an important contribution for the nursing practice, mainly as to what concerns the communication difficulties of the nursing staff when confronted with patients suffering from Aphasia.
