Resumo: | Architecture is the relationship between man and space in response to his needs, actions and echos of his thoughts. Therefore, over time it becomes in concordance with the evolution of society, creation or expansion of cities and the development of new technologies; improving significantly the development of work and jobs, health and education, and people's comfort. In this sense, we can say that not only we inhabit our houses or homes, but all those buildings (infrastructures) where we develop an activity during the day. Everybody has the right to own a home, that is, a house that serves as both: shelter and refuge or protection of environmental adversities that may be threatened health and physical integrity. Each year the world population grows exponentially, placing much of it in the cities, so it is considered that by 2050, 80% of the world population will be living in the (big) cities. Although it is currently considered that Europe has that urban population percentage, it has been affected even more significantly by the present global economic crisis; increasing the unemployment rate and the loss of homes. This part of the population living in extreme social exclusion is called the homeless population or homeless. Moreover, the homeless are a global reality, a social problem with urban impact as a result of various causes such as personal, illness or social issues as well as unemployment and economy matters. Those categorized as homeless, (that lives in unsafe or inadequate housing/ environments) cover a 53% of the total population of homeless in Portugal, therefore there is a need to find a temporary solution for the safeguarding and protection and perhaps a resolution to this population in need. Many projects have been seeking to solve this global problem and that is where the architect plays an important role in its resolution. Thus, the objective of this work is focusing in understand what has been done and find a solution or improvement to this problem - which is an architectural and societal problem. |
