Resumo: Introduction: Being a parent of a child diagnosed with a cancer carries a countless number of expressions of emotions, feeling of anger, guilt. However, with the evolution of medical and nursing care, there is a chance for parents to become caregivers for their children, in partnership with nurses during hospital stay or even at home. Parental training should be guided by the parental education paradigm. Care is often complex, but properly supported and trained parents may be able to intervene with quality and improvement of the family life quality. Aims: Map and resume scientific evidence based on the nurse’s intervention in parental education for paediatric oncological disease. Material and Methods: We put together a Scooping Review (ScR) based on three review questions: Which topics are addressed by the nurse in parental education for paediatric oncological disease? When should these topics be addressed? Which strategies are used by the nurse in parental education for paediatric oncological disease? Results: From the 1043 documents found, 48 were considered for this review. Having in consideration the review questions and the obtained results’ heterogeneity, categories of presentation were defined: cross-cutting recommendations and guidelines; topics to address; timeline and parental education strategies. Conclusions: Parental education in paediatric oncology is a core-responsibility of this speciality nurse. Parents will only be available and able to learn after emotionally adjusting to the diagnosis.
