Resumo: There is an increasing number of students in basic education schools with difficulties in reading, and consequently, in writing. Our exploratory study aims to understand if the C Pen Exam Reader (C-Pen) helps in the learning process of students with language and writing difficulties. The methodology chosen was interviews with elementary school teachers, no special education teachers, and a speech therapist, as well as the support of CRTICee of the Amato Lusitano School Grouping. Thus, it was possible to assess the added value for students, not only in terms of their autonomy, since it is a reading pen, but also their self-esteem and inclusion in the school environment. It was also possible to clarify which points to improve in the use of this instrument to maximize its effectiveness and, thus, improve the quality of life of these students, such as prosody (accentuation, intonation, duration, rhythm of words and phrases).
