The present article aims at describing the work developed by the authors within the project “The Science Garden – Towards a Scientific Culture in the first years of schooling”, under the Research Centre for Didactics and Technology in the Education of Educators (RCDTEE). All activities carried out in the period between January and November 2009 consisted in supporting management of two spaces: the Sciences Education Open Laboratory (LeduC) and the Science Garden, two structures of the aforementioned centre. Such activities focussed on the organisation and inventory of didactic materials, updating of information displayed on the LeduC webpage, supervision of visits to the Science Garden and support to the development and formatting of didactic resources designed for the visitors. Later on the process of development of a webpage for publicising the Science Garden was initiated. This experience allowed the authors to acquire knowledge on educational research and models of teaching and teacher education and the contact with new educational methodologies. The work and experience thus gathered will allow the development of a research study resorting to the Science Garden.
