The exploration of a business idea combining gaming and betting: a qualitative research approach

Resumo: (Competitive) gaming is booming and constantly evolving due to new technologies and features. While the integration of monetary incentives has become the norm within professional gaming, this development is absent at the amateur level. This work project examines whether the combination of gaming and betting can enhance the gaming experience. The qualitative experiment conducted in this work shows that the experience can be significantly enhanced in various components (Fun, Tension, Thrill, Excitement, Involvement, Competitiveness) and explores the role of overconfidence. The derived implications are used to develop a first potential business model.
