Resumo: This article discusses the classic Mozambican Nós Matámos o Cão Tinhoso!, by Luís Bernardo Honwana, considering the misreadings, mainly political, that have been presented. On the other hand, it proposes the comparison of the first story (and also of the whole book) with the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, that Honwana may have known from its film version.
