This study intends to develop a proposal for the rehabilitation of Cine Aves, a cinema built in the early 1950's. The building is in Vila das Aves, Santo Tirso, and is currently closed and showing signs of degradation. The challenge, proposed by one of the owners, was to return the equipment to the Aves community as a cinema but with more valences. The process for the realization of the proposal, a preliminary draft, is delineated in three Acts (Chapters) that show the phases and information required for this exercise. The three moments of the work reveal the research, the approach to the architectural object and the realization of the preliminary project. In the first moment, the place and building history is studied and analysed. In the next moment, the approximation, it is possible to understand the state of conservation of the architectural object through an evaluation form adapted to the case study. Finally, research and analysis lead to the sustained and informed elaboration of an intervention project that translates into drawings, schemes and images representative of what may be the revitalization of the cinema. In each Act are presented drawings (blueprints, sections, and elevations) that intend to show the Past, the Present and the Future of Cine Aves. This is an architectural exercise of approach to a real context and is developed accordingly. The fact that there is a built object that is intended to be effectively rehabilitated, coupled with the presence and involvement of the client, guide this study that has as its conclusion a proposal that shows the new vision for Cine Aves.
