Resumo: Considering the impact of the strategy on companies in the civil construction sector, the article focuses on variables associated to the strategy that result in an organization with better vision and strategic positioning consolidated from the empirical study. The research was based on a survey that collected data from 125 companies in Brazil. The data related to nine variables divided into two groups and three categories were analyzed based on multivariate analysis using multiple discriminant analysis. The results showed the higher the presence of analysis of the company's operating environment, the analysis of customer needs and performance analysis based on targets and/or indicators, the greater the tendency of the organization has vision and highly defined strategic positioning. In this sense, the article encourages the development of the strategy to create business sustainability by improving results in the construction sector.
