This present dissertation investigates the relation between sound and architectural space through auditory perception. The study object concerns a broader amplitude within the understanding of sound, in which disciplines like acoustic ecology and ''soundscapes'', philosophy (namely through phenomenology), visual and sound art as well as acoustics and music, whose historical contexts allow a technical framework. These disciplines and their respective historical context are analyzed in relation with architecture, both in theory and practical forms, and the data collected is interpreted in a critical form within an architectural perspective. This work documents an investigation process that does not have the single purpose of finding one solution as an answer to a problem: its fundamental function is to appeal to the importance of auditory perception for architecture as a discipline for students and architects.
