Resumo: | The following looks at Japanese design approach, its origins, its contemporary, and the effect it has upon the way we understand architectural design. The understanding of what is a contemporary Japanese home is often disconnected from the Japanese tradition. The contemporary structures share a certain language; simplicity in form, composition of structural elements and spatial quality. This design approach originated from the first Asian occupations as well as on the Japanese archipelago. In order to explore this architectural phenomenon, one proceeded through the study of the construction of a Japanese wooden house. One identifies with the place and culture through an internship in Tokyo and a journey through the Japan. The objective of this work was to understand the historical background, despite the given historical background since the Jomon period (14 000 b.C. - 200 b.C.), one pays closer attention looking 400 years back into the Edo period and taking 4 houses as case studies. Within this wide scope of opportunities, in a surgical manner the investigation cuts through paradigm's changes and the evolution of the wooden house's construction techniques. |
