Da vida dos líquenes : simbiose entre o desenho científico e artístico

This project consists of an exploration of a sample of lichens, from the urban park of Rinchoa, within the scope of scientific and artistic drawing, based on the conceptions of representation defended by John Ruskin, on fidelity to nature, in contrast to the premeditated accident by Alexander Cozens in landscape drawing. Through these two languages a reflection is made on the symbiotic relationship established by them, contextualizing them historically and analyzing them through the works of various artists. Photography is briefly mentioned as an auxiliary instrument. A brief theoretical context of lichens is also presented, describing their characteristics and categorizing them. Concepts of scale between micro/macro and how these have an impact on the perception of the artist and the observer are addressed. Using the perspectives of some authors, we seek to understand nature and drawing as tools for introspective meditation and knowledge of the world, a relationship that is established between man and the natural space during a walk. The explanation of the process refers to the time and decisions taken, in a constant dialogue between conscious/subconscious, concrete/ambiguous. The deep dive into nature is concluded with a series of drawings that reflects the evolution of the personal artistic path during this project and that comprises the experience gathered over 5 years at the Faculty of Fine Arts.
