The inhabited body: the house as a reflection of the self stems from the problematization of the relation between the house and the self. What is the House made of? Who are we when we close our world’s door to the (outside) World? Considering that the House cannot be dissociated from a being, and that the identity of that being is present in the identity of the house, I intend to understand how the house acquires an emotional side to the subject. Using my own experience and my own house as starting points, I attempt to understand the dialectics of Being and Inhabiting. When does a House become a home? When does it start transcending the physical realm and becoming an integral part of our existence as human beings? When does the house become able of humanly addressing our needs? Can the house be an geographical, and sentimental representation of my Self?
