The article proposes an approach of the Grrrlzines as communities founded around a cultural object that involves the production of texts, photos and other materials on the participation of women in the punk scene (and society in general) in Portugal. In this context, one starts from the understanding of fanzines as an alternative media of late modernity, capable of revealing the punk movement and the DIY ethos associated with it to identify the set of Portuguese riot fanzines, their messages and senses, with the aim of understanding their relevance as a communication vehicle for the dissemination of the ideas of their community, as well as highlighting the strategy and understandings of female empowerment, a society still very much linked to symbolic, social and cultural male domination.
