Self-evaluation in the construction of improving the abilities of the school as a community of professional learning

Resumo: The purpose of this article is to highlight how self-assessment processes must enroll in a process of collective capacity building at schools, as a critical factor for managing the improvement at school as Professional Learning Communities which focus on improvements in teacher quality and teaching, we are able to promote self-assessment as device of development. Without purposeful, focused, and sustained capacity building, the self-evaluation will be shallow at worst and at best uneven learning where any gains are likely to be short-lived. The self-evaluation within the context of Professional Learning Communities creates an infrastructure for creating a better professional practice and enhancing school wide capacity for sustainable improvement.

Una escuela, como Comunidad de Aprendizaje Profesional cuyo foco es la mejora continua de la calidad del profesorado y la ense-ñanza, precisa de la autoevaluación como dispositivo de desarrollo. La autoevaluación tenderá a ser superfi cial y, como mucho, las mejoras de aprendizaje probablemente serán efímeras, si no se inscribe en una construcción de capacidades deliberada, focalizada y sostenida. La autoevaluación, inmersa en una Comunidad de Aprendizaje Profesional crea una infraestructura para mejorar la práctica profesional y la capacidad de toda la escuela para una mejora sostenible.O propósito deste artigo é delinear como os processos de autoavaliação devem inscrever-se num processo de construção de capacidades da escola, como fator crítico para gerir a melhoria. Uma escola, como Comunidade de Aprendizagem Profissional cujo foco é a melhoria contínua da qualidade do professorado e do ensino, precisa da autoavaliação como dispositivo de desenvolvimento. A autoavaliação 10 Revista Portuguesa de Investigação Educacional 14/2014 tenderá a ser superficial e, quando muito, as melhorias de aprendizagem provavelmente serão efémeras, se não se inscrever numa construção de capacidades deliberada, focalizada e sustentada.
