La théorie syntaxique dans la grammaticogaphie latino-portugaise de la deuxième moitiée du XVIIIe siècle

The paper studies the theoretical characteristicsregistered in the chapters on syntax in the Latingrammars published in Portugal between 1753 -the year of publication of the second volume ofthe Novo methodo da grammatica latina, parauso das escholas da Congregação do Oratorio byAntónio Pereira de Figueiredo and 1799 theyear in which was published the Novo methododa grammatica latina para uso do Real Collegiode N. S. da Conceição by António Venâncio daCosta. These metalinguistic works were published- with the exception of the grammar of Figueiredoand the Grammatica latina, tratada por ummétodo novo, claro e facil (Barcelona 1758) byLuís António Verney after the Alvará Régio ofJune 28, 1759, in which the use of the famous Deinstitutione grammatica libri tres (Lisbon 1572),by the Jesuít Manuel Álvares, is forbidden for theteaching of Latin, as well as other books thatexplained and translated this grammar. In thiscontext, we analyze the syntactic foundations ofgrammars as well as the theoretical relationshipbetween each. The possible degree ofapproximation of these textbooks with the Latingrammar by Manuel Álvares is also determined.
