Resumo: The publication "Monte Picoto: cinco ideias", in which the proposals for Monte Picoto's 1982 competition are portrayed, it is understood, in the words of Fernando Távora, Alfredo Matos Ferreira and the other participants, an ancient and transcendent spatial interconnection in Braga: the sanctuaries, the squares and the surrounding hills seem to establish a dominant harmony over the urban fabric of this place - according to man's foundational wishes. The will to design a market square at Monte Picoto, merged with the analysis of the contest book, directed the work's initial certainties to a more sensitive study. A study that intends to interpret the meaning of Braga's valleys and hills and describe a contemporary view on the discipline of architecture; a vision that analyzes the site and paradoxically the design exercise as a way of synthesize and express ideas. Depois de Babel intends to be a contribution with utopian characteristics arising from ideas such as the one that remains of the great biblical myth. This essay is attached to a place that, in addition to the need to house a market square, also admits the desire to establish a sacred space that allows it to go beyond its materiality/physicality and include the dimension that integrates it. The drawing essay for a tower and a space - square at the foot of Monte Picoto intends to unite the themes found with desire and start a narrative towards the sky (?).
