Based on the assumption that science communication is a fundamental mission of scientific institutions and their researchers, this project intends to analyze how multimedia resources can be used to communicate science, through Instagram. The project analyses the publications made on @fapeal.br, the profile of the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Alagoas (FAPEAL)/BR; and how the Communication Department of FAPEAL and researchers of Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL) understood the process to communicate papers on Instagram. The central point of the case study is to relate the demands of communicating complex science topics through multimedia tools - which themselves require a more or less high starting level of digital literacy - and the social network Instagram. The project's relevance lies, precisely, in reflecting on the relationship between new information and communication technologies and scientific literacy.
