ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR: notes on inclusion

Resumo: This article seeks to bring a reflection on the issue of disability. Through bibliographic research, mainly focused on the World Report on Disability published by the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2011, an understanding of environment-disability was built, emphasizing the role of environmental psychology as a promoter of inclusion for the disabled. It is necessary to understand the universe of disability, the disabled, the environment and society, in order to promote more accessible environments and more receptive communities to differences, since in the world there is no one being equal to the other, all being different and equal. Reflection on the issue of disabilities and the environment can be carried out from several angles, as we live in a society that is not prepared to accept the different as equal. Studying and debating on the subject, requires that the researcher make an exchange of positions, that he is subject to putting himself in the “place of a person with a disability”, who tries to see the world from her perspective. There are still many barriers to be broken to guarantee full accessibility of rights to different environments, with information being one of the most important tools to be used, as a way of reaching a more evolved society in understanding differences.

Através da pesquisa bibliográfica, sobretudo centrada no Relatório Mundial sobre a Deficiência publicado pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), em 2011, construiu-se a compreensão ambiente-deficiência, pontuando o papel da psicologia ambiental como promotora da inclusão para o portador de deficiência. É necessário que se compreenda o universo da deficiência, do deficiente, do ambiente e da sociedade, de forma a promover ambientes mais acessíveis e comunidades mais recetivas as diferenças, visto que no mundo não existe um ser igual ao outro, sendo todos diferentes e iguais. A reflexão a respeito do tema deficiências e ambiente pode ser realizada por vários ângulos, pois vivemos em uma sociedade pouco preparada para aceitar o diferente como igual. Estudar e debater sobre a temática, requer que o investigador faça uma troca de posições, que se sujeite a colocar no “lugar duma pessoa com deficiência”, que tente ver o mundo da visão dela.
