Resumo: After briefly outlining some of the filters that determine the transfer of a text from a language/culture A into a language/culture B, the article focuses on “translator” and “ideology” as influencing factors of the translation process. Since an important part of the reception of Heinrich Böll’s work in Portugal took place during the Estado Novo, a political period marked by censorship, the values defended by the regime are identified and the Portuguese versions of the novels Und sagte kein einziges Wort and Haus ohne Hüter are analysed, with a view to finding any possible signs of the interference of this ideological framework. These issues are illustrated with relevant examples from the texts.

Decorrendo uma parte importante da recepção de Heinrich Böll em Portugal no período do Estado Novo, em que vigorou um regime de censura, traça-se o quadro de valores defendidos pelo regime e analisam-se as versões portuguesas dos romances Und sagte kein einziges Wort e Haus ohne Hüter, a fim de avaliar se e em que medida elas acusam a interferência dessa moldura ideológica.
