Resumo: Heritage, stated by historic centers, museums and monuments, bestow Porto as a prominent place for tourism. The U.P. (University of Porto) holds remarkable sights, bibliographic and cultural heritage which may well be the reason behind the city's unquestionable role as a key-actor concerning the upbringing of a strong identity and city picture. The city of Porto, classified by UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, in 1996, as "World Heritage Site", acknowledge in 2001 as European Capital of Culture and recurrently considered as "best European Destination", outlining Porto as being one of the most attractive cities. As such, and when considering the theorical paradigm of culture semiotics, we aim to research and to comprehend in which ways the semiosphere that incorporates Oporto University interacts with those accountable for the city's either marketing or management as a tourism destination. Therefore, this report cast's about to identify how dimensions such as dialogue, cultural interaction, "buffer" phenomenon's, boundary and semiotic center in a networking perspective are crucial for the sustainability of destinies competitivity.
