Resumo: This thesis has the goal to redefine the current concept of cell through an architectural and inclusive thinking, based on the study of the cellular space's organization in interrelation with what involves it and simultaneously characterizes it. The preconception associated with this archaic and reductive pre-concept leads to a definition deprived of any kind of analysis or standardization in what concerns the reclusion's character, as well as the space's relation with the individual, with others and with the place where it's located. Through an initial questioning of cells linked to the common imaginary, one begins to study its characteristics as dependent of collective and vigilant structures. Originally linked only to religious or punitive contexts, they are also related - and changing their pre-definition -, to health (physical|mental) and to alternative residence; places where the act of inhabit excludes the domestic component, in the search of the desired isolation - by the own or by another. The thesis is supported in reference bibliography to contextualize the reader, primarily, about the origin of these reclusionary contexts; and simultaneously proceed to a questioning also supported in the analysis of particular aspects of the cellular units. Finally, through the presentation of concrete case studies, it's possible on one hand, to prove the previously analyzed; and on the other hand, to understand concretely the scope of these cells and the urgency to readjust their redefinition - this, assuming its complexity and inter-disciplinarity,
