This thesis has as its object the elaboration of a project of a Cultural Center for the city of Lospalos, East Timor.In order to enable the concepts and mechanisms of the local past architecture in the design of new architectural spaces that match the possibilities, requirements and current anxieties, the initiative to design the "Cultural Center" is the result of a personal interpretation of the traditional house of Lospalos.This intention, in fact, is not to perpetuate the old way of doing architecture, but to capture its essence and thus the connection of the past in a harmonious and creative dynamic with the present and the future.The aim is to complement the project with the exercise of academic reflection. In this sense, it tried to, on the one hand, the architectural design object is clarified and consolidated through textual development and, on the other hand, the reflection is maturate in this dynamic complementarity between the project and justification. Thus, the text developed is not limited to the description as serving also as research and imagination instrument: always taking into account a fair reading of the traditional home and the program contained in the project. Therefore, outlined two main objectives:- Display the design of the "Cultural Center" as a result of interpretation of the traditional house of Lospalos.- To highlight in the context the proposed program, taking into account the functional, material, constructive technical, spatial and symbolic aspects.As a result, it´s presenting a specific solution in terms of project which able, as reflection, to trigger the extended debate.In the first part, to determine the site of implantation of the "Cultural Center" is doing the approach of context, considering their physical means. The second part is dealing with the survey and characterization of the traditional house of Lospalos, showing its constituent elements, the third part will setting the program "Cultural Center" and the fourth part, the elaboration of the project.
