Resumo: The teaching and training programmes suitable for the occupation and rehabilitation of visually impaired people of ten use cards with pictures and graphics as well as text in the dialogues between the disabled person and the social worker. The substitution of those cards by computer specific information determined the development of specific software applications provided with means to deal with that information within teaching or authoring situations. The system described in this paper was designed in function of the rehabilitation needs of visually impaired people. And allows the provision of teaching services and the creation of lessons for learning by means of the usage of an internal model associated with the book metaphor as a process of organising the information and user interface. This model is based on three entities, namely lesson, page and object, the latest containing all the multimedia data to present.

A substituição desses cartões por conteúdos informáticos determinou o desenvolvimento de aplicações específicas de software com meios para manipulação desses conteúdos em situações de autoria ou de ensino. O sistema descrito neste artigo foi desenhado em função das necessidades de reabilitação de deficientes com reduzida acuidade visual e possibilita o fornecimento de serviços de ensino e criação de lições para a aprendizagem, utilizando internamente um modelo associado à metáfora do livro como processo para organização de informação e interface com o utilizador.
