Resumo: The initial institutionalization of geography in Portugal happened so alien to Carto-graphy. However, the Geography consolidation would take place in two phases, marked by two names whose positions and options is formatted and propagated, among others, also from the Cartography and with Cartography. The 1940s began with an important event within cartographic publication of Atlas of Portugal and Geog-raphy of Portugal, both of 1941 and Amorim Gira o, and en-ded with another event of great importance in many aspects as well, which here interests us within cartographic, the IGU congress, organized by Orlan-do Ribeiro in 1949. The case of cartographic representation of the "Montanhas Pastoris de Portugal" then published, is, im-plicitly and explicitly, one of the most interesting episodes.
