In a city the quantity and quality of its public spaces determine to a great extent the best urban quality of it. Still in relation to these spaces, it is important to provide the favorable conditions for a well-being relationship in the interaction between the various architectural elements of those spaces and the people who enjoy them. In this work a study of the public space of a Portuguese city was elaborated, in this case the city of Albergaria-a-Velha in the district of Aveiro. Through several tools, such as bibliographical and archival research, interviews, and elaboration of a project, a detailed analysis of the two main public spaces of the city was carried out - Praça Ferreira Tavares and Praça da Alameda 5 de Outubro. In the course of the work, the spaces were analyzed according to different points of view. As a result of this study, it was concluded that it is necessary and important to take some architectural measures that could somehow energize and revitalize the charismatic and central public spaces of the city, since the analysis carried out showed that these spaces are gradually becoming "dead" spaces in the current context of the urban mesh of the city in question.
