The ruin of Sanatorium Hostel located in Cabeço de Montachique establishingyourself as a study object of this thesis. Before the characterization of the contextin which it operates, we try to understand its importance to the location in orderto develop the project of transformation of Cabeço de Montachique ruin.This work, organized into three chapters interconnected and divided into subchapters,is the exposure of a line of structured and continuous thought.Thus, at first, it presents the background and history of the ruin context in spaceand time. As regards the architecture imposed by the sanatorium ruin Albergaria,we will present a brief description of the architecture produced by its architect,Rosendo Carvalheira, integrated in a broader view of the production of a so-calledarchitecture "Anti-Tuberculosis".Characterized the "story" that the ruin of the Sanatorium Albergaria carries, andsafeguarding its importance, we seek, in a second moment to develop a reflectionon the ruin, landscape and memory, and understand the different approach of aruin strategies. These different ways of looking at the ruin raise a number of theoreticalconcerns that anticipate the third time - the development of the project.In this third and last time we present the policy proposal developed as the mainobject of this dissertation. The project description is divided based on the threestages of evolution, accompanied by drawings and working models.
