A atração dos autores pelos heróis e pelas suas histórias permitiram que estes sobrevivessem ao tempo, ainda que tenham sido recriados, reinterpretados, reescritos, por tal diversidade de autores que neste momento o seu enredo e as suas morais sociais serão muito divergentes das dos textos originais. Foram adaptados aos diversos meios literários e artísticos, utilizando temas e problemáticas inerentes à condição humana na sua existência transversal ao longo dos tempos. Ao propormo-nos analisar a receção dos mitos de Antígona e Electra no ballet clássico do séc. XX, torna-se essencial perceber quais foram os temas que estariam presentes na origem do mito e quais é que os autores clássicos exploraram nas suas versões trágicas. Questões como papéis de género, abuso de poder, discrepâncias sociais e o significado da religião na existência humana são comuns na sociedade ateniense do séc. V a.C. e transversais às restantes sociedades que se seguiram até à Época Contemporânea. Ainda que com contornos distintos a essência humana persiste imutável. Ao procurarmos um reflexo destas temáticas no ballet clássico deparamo-nos com algumas dificuldades, nomeadamente no que diz respeito à preservação dos registos da dança e à inerente falta de palavra que caracteriza esta forma artística. Torna-se, portanto, essencial enquadrar estas produções artísticas no seu contexto histórico: temporal, espacial e social, para que seja possível uma interpretação o mais fidedigna possível, procurando sempre compreender o modo como a receção clássica se deu até chegar às produções que analisamos. Finalmente é do nosso interesse observar o modo como os bailados modernos associados às temáticas clássicas são recebidos pelo público contemporâneo, pois aí reside o objetivo final da produção artística: nas mensagens, emoções e sensações que transmite a quem as observa.The transmission of the most well-known texts and myths from Classical Antiquity has been occurring over the centuries. The authors attraction to the heroes and their stories allowed their survival over time, even though they have been recreated, reinterpreted, rewritten, by such a diversity of authors that at the present moment their plot and their social morals will greatly differ from those of the original texts. They were adapted to various literary and artistic forms, using themes and problematic inherent to the human condition in its transversal existence over time.By proposing to analyze the reception of Antígona’s and Electra’s myths in XX century classical ballet, it becomes essential to understand which themes were present on the primary origin of the myth and which ones the classical authors explored on their tragic versions. Matters such as gender roles, power abuse, social discrepancies and religion’s significance in the human existence are common on the athenian society of the V century BC and transversal to all the societies that followed until the Contemporary Period. The human essence remains unchanged, even though with different contours.When we search for a reflection of these themes in the classical ballet, we come across several difficulties, namely with regards to the records preservation of the dance and the inherent lack of speech that characterizes this form of art.
