Resumo: Scientific research has shown great interest in nurses’ work engagement, seeking to determine not only their levels of expression, but, in large part, the factors that contribute to it. As it is a subject of unavoidable relevance for health organizations, we aim to: I) know the levels of Rehabilitation Nurse (RN) engagement; II) describe the nurses’ view regarding the condition of the nursing practice environment and III) analyze the relationship between the characteristics of the nursing practice environment and their engagement. The Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index were applied to a sample of 113 rehabilitation nurses. The analyses show moderate to high levels of vigor, absorption and dedication that varied significantly according to the nurses age and years spent working in the profession. The nursing practice environment was perceived as mixed, with three dimensions evaluated favorable and two evaluations unfavorable. The correlation matrixes revealed positive and significant relationships between the nursing practice environment and the engagement. The study reinforces the importance of ensuring favorable environments for nursing care, contributing to strengthening the bond with the profession and raising levels of dedication, focus and energy at work.

À uma amostra de 113 EEER foram aplicadas as escalas Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) e Practice Environment Scale of the Nursing Work Index (PES-NWI).
