The main purpose of this report is to inform about the work developed throughout the curricular training period, which took place in the Central Directorate for Investigations of Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service. Firstly, and in general terms, we will analyse the evolution and the history of SEF, followed by a characterization of the entity focusing not only on its legal context, but also on its organic structure and operating dynamics. Finally, the work developed during the training period will be reported, namely the activities undertaken as part of this project. Besides all the above-mentioned items, a study has been carried out about the refugee crisis that occurred during the 2015 to 2016 period. In this study will address the role of the European Union and its response, not only to this specific event but also to the Syrian situation.
