Resumo: Introduction: Quality assessment in health care is a current reality and, among the various dimensions of quality, patient satisfaction is a topic of special relevance. It has been the focus of research in the last two decades, with a significant increase since 2000, which is attributed to the active role of consumers. Aim: To analyze the concept of patient satisfaction with nursing care in the hospital. Materials and Methods: a conceptual analysis was performed according to Walker and Avant’ proposed method, as well as an integrative literature review from 2000 to 2015, with the descriptors "patient satisfaction", “nursing” and "nursing care" in the databases Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Database, MedicLatina and MEDLINE. Results: the sample includes 19 studies where concept antecedents and consequences regarding patients and nurses, were identified. The critical attributes of the concept were categorized into professional, personal and environmental domain. The consequences evince high and low levels of satisfaction. Conclusion: empirical references were defined to the essential concept attributes of patient satisfaction with nursing care in the hospital that allow an operational definition.

Tem sido foco de investigação nas últimas duas décadas, com um aumento significativo a partir do ano 2000, o que se atribui ao papel ativo dos consumidores. Objetivo: analisar o conceito de satisfação do paciente com os cuidados de enfermagem no hospital. Materiais e Métodos: realizada análise concetual segundo o método proposto por Walker e Avant, a par de revisão integrativa da literatura no período 2000 a 2015, com descritores “satisfação do paciente”, “enfermagem” e “cuidados de enfermagem” nas bases de dados Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Database, MedicLatina e MEDLINE. Resultados: a amostra foi constituída por 19 estudos onde se identificaram antecedentes e consequências do conceito relativos aos pacientes e aos enfermeiros. Os atributos críticos do conceito categorizaram-se no domínio profissional, pessoal e ambiental.
