Este estudo de investigação assenta na utilização do quadro interactivo multimédia no ensino/aprendizagem da matemática. Assim, procuramos, por um lado, conhecer e compreender os reais contributos da utilização do quadro interactivo multimédia no ensino/aprendizagem dos alunos e, por outro lado, analisar e compreender como o trabalho colaborativo, entre pares, pode contribuir para o desenvolvimento profissional do professor. A presente investigação foi desenvolvida com recurso à metodologia qualitativa, mais especificamente um estudo de caso, uma vez que se pretendia abordar os alunos e a professora em ambiente natural. O nosso caso prende-se com a utilização do quadro interactivo multimédia no ensino/aprendizagem da matemática e envolveu uma turma do oitavo ano e a sua professora de matemática. Os instrumentos de investigação utilizados foram a observação directa em sala de aula, a qual foi complementada com a gravação em vídeo; a entrevista aos alunos e à professora; um diário de aulas elaborado pela professora e um diário de bordo e notas de campo, pela investigadora. A análise dos dados recolhidos foi realizada utilizando a técnica de análise de conteúdo e a resposta às questões de investigação foi de natureza descritiva e interpretativa. Os resultados obtidos na investigação apontam benefícios no uso do quadro interactivo multimédia no ensino/aprendizagem dos alunos, assim como, na prática pedagógica da professora. A utilização do quadro interactivo multimédia em sala de aula fomentou o trabalho colaborativo e promoveu o desenvolvimento profissional e pessoal. This research study focuses on the use of interactive whiteboards in the teaching and learning of mathematics. So, first we tried to know and understand the real contributions of the use of interactive whiteboards in the teaching and learning of students and, secondly we tried to analyze and understand how the collaborative work among peers, can contribute to the professional development of teachers. This research was developed through the use of a qualitative methodology, more specifically with a case study, since it was our intention to address the students and the teacher in a natural environment. Our case relates to the use of interactive whiteboards in the teaching and learning of mathematics and involved a eighth grade class and their math teacher. The research instruments used were direct observation in the classroom complemented with video recording, interview to the students and the teacher, a daily lesson diary performed by the teacher, a logbook and field notes created by the researcher. The analysis of the collected data was performed using the technique of content analysis and the response to the research questions was of descriptive and interpretive nature. The results of the research show benefits on the use of interactive whiteboards in the teaching/learning of students, as well as improvements for the teachers teaching. The use of interactive whiteboards in the classroom fostered collaborative work and promoted the professional and personal development.
