Resumo: Severe mental illness (SMI), including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression, affects about 450 million people all over the world regardless of sex, age and socio economic status. Usually people with SMI show low levels of physical activity (PA) due to the adoption of unhealthy lifestyles including sedentary behaviour futsal has become an effective approach with several physical, mental and social benefits. In this perspective, the game should be seen in its entirety, in order to increase the sportive commitment of users. Therefore, the analysis of the game is a fundamental tool for users and coaches. The objective of this study was to characterize the game of futsal with SMI individuals in context of training and competition. Specifically it was intended to analise the average frequency of the tactical ofensive and defensive principles (penetration, ofensive coverage, contention and defensive coverage) and of the technical principles (kind of pass, direction of pass, reception condution/protection, feint/dribble, shot and disarm) and in which areas of the field they are stronger in the situation of game. The sample was composed of 11 users with ages between 19 and 53 (37,36 +- 8,80), all male. For the analisis of the results it was made a descriptive analisis. The results indicate that in both contexts (meaning training and competition) there was a preference for the use of of the tecnical-tactical principles Pass, specifically the Short/Medium Pass and the Diagonal fontal and lateral Pass, Reception and Offensive Coverage in the intermediate sectors in comparison to the Faint/Dribble and Defensive Coverage that was more evident in the offensive and defensive sector respectively. It was found that the team understands the game as a collective game and that the "centre of the game" has dominated in the intermediate areas of the field.
