Resumo: The interaction of cinema and architecture - the inherent architecture of cinematic expression, and the cinematic essence of architectural experience - is equally many-sided. (...) Regardless of their unavoidable nature as the products of collective effort, both film and architecture are arts of the auteur, of the individual artistic creator. The projection of architecture in cinema is a topic that encompasses much more than "just" architecture and cinema. This study intends to uncover the sometimes overlooked yet fundamental connections between architects in the realm of filmmaking and architects in the realm of reality. Tools as simple but essential to the practice of architecture serve as a guide to the essential elements of this study - drawing, model-making, and digital techniques that project any spatial thought into something minimally tangible, a first product of architectural creation. Architecture and cinema share a common language, both evoke sensations and feelings when experienced. Both the architect of the real-world and the architect of cinema seek to address the fundamental questions of space - the narratives may vary, but the genesis of spatial creation is the same. This dissertation aims to analyse both fields of study, delving deep into the manipulation of space through the lens of cinema and how close to reality it can be. In this sense, there are various aspects where architecture emerges in cinema, sometimes more directly, sometimes more indirectly. In this line of thinking, the interaction between the two forms of art can be seen from multiple perspectives. From the simple fact that the concept of space undoubtedly exists in all films, to perhaps deeper questions about why architecture is conceived in a certain way in a given film and its relationship with the architecture of the "real world." Are they ultimately so different? By exploring topics such as the creation of space in a more technical tone and the evolution of architecture within cinema in a more theoretical tone, this dissertation aspires to shed some light on the questions that arise.
