Por meio de uma interpretação historiográfica, identifica os principais movimentos de afastamento e aproximação da História face às RI. O artigo tem dois objetivos fundamentais. O primeiro é demonstrar que, embora a História tenha um papel central na imaginação teórica da disciplina das RI, sua importância foi variável e refletiu os diferentes momentos políticos e científicos do seu nascimento, autonomização e maturidade. O segundo é problematizar as pontes e fronteiras entre as duas disciplinas, sublinhando a importância que o pensamento histórico tem para a análise das relações internacionais. O seu principal argumento é que o retorno do pensamento histórico à disciplina das RI mitiga as limitações a-históricas e associais do neopositivismo dominante e aumenta a sofisticação da compreensão reflexiva do estudo das relações internacionais. This article analyzes the historiographic and theoretical-methodological foundations of the (in)disciplinary relationship between History and International Relations (IR). The main movements of distance and approach between History and IR are identified via historiographic interpretation. The article has two fundamental objectives. The first is to demonstrate that, although History holds central importance in IR theoretical imagination as a discipline, its importance was variable and reflected the different political and scientific moments of the field’s birth, autonomy, and maturity. The second is to problematize the bridges and boundaries between the two fields, underlining the importance of historical thought to analyze international relations.
