Resumo: | This dissertation analyzes the evolution of photography as a tool incorporated in the discipline of architecture, and, at first, studies its usefulness in the exercise of creation, construction and dissemination of the architectural world. In a second moment, how photography can manipulate the observer's interpretation, through choices that the photographer makes, creating therefore, narratives that can have distinct visual discourses. In this sense, the structure of the work is divided into three chapters. In the first, a general historical approach to the universe of photography is carried out, and then the focus is on the study of architectural photography, as well as the inherent relationship between photographers and architects. Continuing with this line of study and analysis of photography and architecture, in the second chapter, is exposed a reflection on the possibilities of using photography as a tool present in the various stages of the process of design, representation and communication of architecture. Still in this chapter, is presented an analysis of two types of photographic discourses that can be recognized in contemporaneity, entitled as utopian discourse and critical discourse. The research of this discourses, is deepened with a comparative study of two photographers, Fernando Guerra and Iwan Baan. In the last and third chapter, a photographic work was elaborated, which empirically demonstrates the theoretical study carried out, having as object of study two visual narratives between the metro station Lapa in relation to the Bairro da Bouça by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira. This dissertation has the main objective of making the readers aware of the multiple potentials of architectural photography as a means of expression, exploration and communication support, having for this purpose, the demonstration of the different aspects of photography, as a multipurpose tool with countless possibilities. In fact, photography can be used as an instrument of design, critical analysis and as a form of expression and communication in various phases of the process of conception and representation and communication of the architectural project, whose final product of critical and poetic understanding acquires a value far more significant than a mere spatial record. |
